On May 6, 2016 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that they will be holding three one-day public meetings regarding implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
The theme of the meeting will be, “FDA Food Safety Modernization Act: Focus on Strategic Implementation of Prevention-Oriented Import Safety Programs” and will cover topics including, “import safety programs, (i.e. foreign supplier verification programs (FSVPs) for importers of food for humans and animals, accreditation of third-party certification bodies and FDA’s Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP).” FDA is looking to continue working with the importer community to brainstorm ideas on how to abide by FMSA mandates and regulations.
The date/times for the meetings are as follows:
- June 7, 2016, 8:30am – 3:00pm in Costa Mesa, CA
- June 15, 2016, 8:30am – 3:00pm in Rutherford, NJ
- June 21, 2016 8:30am – 3:00pm in Detroit, MI
