HOLLAND, Mich., Oct. 31, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Holland professional driver, William Trimble, was celebrated for reaching an astounding safety record as he has successfully logged three million consecutive miles without a single preventable collision.
To reach this outstanding achievement requires a lifetime commitment to safety. There are 477 active Holland professional drivers on the road who have reached the safety milestone of driving over one million consecutive miles without a preventable accident, and 169 active Holland drivers who have reached more than two million consecutive miles without a preventable accident. William is one out of four active Holland drivers to have achieved the remarkable three million milestone.
William has been driving professionally for 37 years and has been with Holland for nearly 25 years. The son of a professional truck driver, he developed a passion for trucking at a young age. He later served in the military as an Army Engineer, where he manned formidable vehicles and secured multiple “Driver of the Month” awards from the Army.
William currently operates as a linehaul driver out of the Holland Rockford, Ill. service center and usually logs at least 3,000 miles per week. He attributes his ability to keep up with such a demanding schedule to a healthy diet and a commitment to proper rest.
“Through his excellent service and sincere concern for the future of Holland, Bill is a real asset,” said Rick Varga, Rockford Terminal Manager. “He is sincerely dedicated to providing our customers with the very best that Holland can offer. It is a real pleasure working with Bill.”
“The most important thing when you get in your truck every night is to always respect what you’re doing,” said William. “Once on the road, you need to constantly be aware of what’s going on around you and never let your attention slip. You have to not only drive your own vehicle, but also remain aware of everyone around you and watch for potential hazards — always keeping safety the number one priority.”
William’s safety accomplishment was celebrated with a police escort to the Rockford service center on October 21st, where he was greeted by co-workers and family members. A brief ceremony was conducted by Holland corporate officers who traveled to Illinois for the occasion. William was awarded with a trophy and a commemorative 3-million-miler leather jacket.
