APC Overnight, the UK’s largest privately owned next day parcel delivery firm, has appointed Karl Brown as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Karl, who is from Doncaster, has been on the APC Overnight board of directors since 2011, having initially joined the network in 1998, when he founded his same day parcel delivery business, Direct Logistics, in Goole, Yorkshire.
Boasting a wealth of experience in the transport and logistics industry having joined the RAF’s transport department upon leaving school, Karl has since grown his business through the acquisitions of two branches of Express Logistics – in Nottingham and Stockport. Karl now oversees a business with a turnover in excess of £8.5 million.
Chairman of APC Overnight, Quentin Abel, said;“The appointment of Karl as CEO allows APC Overnight to continue the success and rapid growth experienced over recent years. Karl not only brings a wealth of industry experience to this role, but also allows us to maintain continuity, having been a part of the network for 15 years, and part of our board of directors for the last two years. This is extremely important as we approach our peak period.“
“This year has arguably been the biggest in our company’s history, having seen the unveiling of our new £16.5 million national sortation centre, plus a host of award wins. What is important now is that we don’t stand still, Karl’s appointment is an exciting one for our business.“
Karl Brown, the new Chief Executive Officer at APC Overnight commented: “It is real honour to take up my new position at a time when the business has been performing so well. Some extremely high standards have been set by our business over recent years, and I wish to ensure this level of ambition is something we continue to maintain.“
“Whilst I hope to bring new strategic direction to the APC Overnight network in order for our growth to continue, I am keen to ensure this is done in a measured and sustainable manner. By focusing on the delivery of high service levels for our customers and the support of each and every one of our depots, I have no doubt we will be able to bring more success to the business.“
Karl’s predecessor, Syed Ziaullah, has taken the decision to step down from the CEO position for personal reasons.
